The Housemaid : A Jaw-Dropping Psychological Thriller

I recently delved into “The Housemaid” by Freida McFadden and let me tell you, it shook me to the core! I was not prepared for the intense twists and turns that awaited me. This psychological thriller captured my attention like no other book before. I also would like to add this is the first psychological thriller I’ve read. Here’s my review of this gripping read !

The Housemaid Overview

Wilhelmina Callaway, known as “Millie,” has just completed a decade behind bars and is facing an uphill battle in securing employment after her release. Amidst this struggle, she experiences a stroke of luck as she is offered a position as a housemaid by Nina Winchester. At first glance, Nina appears to lead a flawless life, residing in a stunning abode with a handsome husband and a daughter. However, as time passes, it becomes evident that things are not as they seem. Nina appears intent on making Millie’s life more difficult, leading to questions about her sanity. Mysterious and unsettling occurrences emanate from the attic, raising doubts about the true nature of this seemingly perfect family.

Thoughts & Ratings

“The Housemaid” is hands down one of the most gripping books I’ve come across this year! The pace is absolutely perfect, keeping me on the edge of my seat with every turn of the page. I was completely hooked and just couldn’t bring myself to set it down. The plot twists took me completely by surprise, leaving me guessing right up until the very end. And Millie’s revelation about her past and the reason for her 10-year imprisonment left me utterly shocked!

This book is a definite re-read for me, and without a doubt, it deserves 6 out of 5 stars! I cannot recommend it highly enough!
