The Coworker by Freida McFadden: Thrilling Review

The Coworker by Freida McFadden

The Coworker by Freida McFadden is another great psychological thriller by Freida but was it 5 star worthy? Lets dive into it.

may contain spoilers for the coworker by Freida McFadden

The Coworker By Freida McFadden Overview

Two women. Coworkers. Both are different from one another. Hidden secrets and a crime.

Dawn and Natalie work at Vixed, a nutritional supplement company where dawn works as an accountant. Natalie is a sales rep. She seems perfect in Dawn’s eyes, shes pretty and popular, everyone seems to like her.

Dawn is known to be very precise, she comes in, takes her lunches and breaks at the same time every day. But what happens when one day she doesn’t come in like normal? Natalie thinks she may just be running late even though it’s totally not like her at all.

Then Natalie receives a chilling phone call that makes her believe something much more serious than she first thought.

As she tries to navigate who would want to harm dawn secrets are revealed and a body comes up. In this whole situation it is unclear who is the victim.

Writing

Most like all of Freida McFadden’s book this thriller was fast paced. it really keeps you on your toes. I once again thought I figured out what was going on by the middle of the book, but I was completely wrong.

The book switches from dawn & Natalie’s point of view. This is great for readers as we get to see the present from Natalie’s point of view. And then from dawns point of view we are able to see the past and what lead up to her going missing.

Included in the story are all emails from dawn , Natalie , and their boss which is great as well because details in these emails create a great amount of suspense throughout the story.

Characters

The character development is not really there. We get to see a huge twist in character traits with dawn. She goes from this turtle loving, nice, innocent women to this crazy, obsessed murderer.

Natalie’s character is cliche in the Freida McFadden universe. Shes like a terrible person she literally bullied dawn, slept with her boss who had a wife, and a cheater (on her boyfriend). Shes literally the worst. And honestly I had trouble feeling bad for her.

In all of the books I’ve read by Freida all her characters seem to be the same. I think in future books I would like to see the characters actually be good people instead of crazy lunatics that need to be locked up, or people that need to work on their morals .

The Coworker By Freida McFadden Review Conclusion

overall the coworker by Freida McFadden is an enjoyable read. The plot twist was amazing. The book had suspense throughout making me eager to finish and find out : who did it!? If you’ve read a lot of Freida’s books before you probably would feel like the characters are all the same. This can get a little boring at times . I just wish the characters would switch up. they’re all women in their 30’s with mental issues. I guess this does contribute to the psychological thriller aspect, but still. In future books I’d like to see characters, at least the main character that is mentally stable.

But like I said I did enjoy this book my rating is : 4/5 stars!

Did you read this book? did you enjoy it?
