Six Crimson Cranes By Elizabeth Lim Review

Book Title: six crimson cranes

author: Elizabeth Lim

Six Crimson Cranes Overview

Shiori’anma, the only princess of Kiata, has a secret. Forbidden magic runs through her veins. On the morning of her betrothal ceremony, shiori loses control of it, forestalling the wedding she never wanted, but also catching the attention of raikama, her stepmother.

A sorceress in her own right, Raikama banishes the young princess, turning her brothers into cranes and warning Shiori that she must speak of it to no one- for every word that escapes her lips, on of her brother will die.

Penniless, voiceless, and alone, shiori searches for her brothers and uncovers a dark conspiracy to seize the throne .Only shiori can set the kingdom to rights, but to do so she must place her trust in a paper bird, a mercurial dragon, and the very boy she fought so hard not to marry.

And she must embrace the magic shes been taught all her life to contain – no matter what is costs her.

What I didn’t Like

Six crimson cranes really did grab me right from the beginning. The plot was very interesting. 200 pages in and i was bored.

In the middle of six cranes the story line just dragged on. It felt like page fillers. I had to really push myself to read because I really wanted to know how this would all end.

Shiori was very impulsive and mad loads of bad decisions. I mean she is 16-17 years old but still. It was very aggravating. She was acting like a spoiled princess until she had to learn to survive on her own.

By the end she was tolerable dare I say character development???

Didn’t really know the 6 brothers at all and couldn’t track who was who.

what I did like

  • There were plenty of little surprises that kept me interested at times. But nothing big nothing that made me gasp out loud or put the book down and pace.
  • The character Seryu was the best character in this book. He was very witty I just hate how he was barely in the book but I hope his in the second book a lot more.
  • The world building in this book was amazing. very detailed and vivid.
  • kiki the paper crane was second best because she had some sense.

Conclusion

Is six crimson cranes by elizabeth Lim worth the time to read?

Yes, although it gets very in the middle it has a good plot and some memorable characters. The world-building in this book is amazing and not complicated at all.

Shiori’s character developed throughout this book she seems like shes not a teenager anymore after all she experiences even though she still is.

I’m unsure if I will be reading the second book . Six crimson cranes really wrapped the plot up by the end of the book so it didn’t really leave on a cliffhanger. Like I’m not dying to read ” the dragon promise ” but we’ll see. My rating of this book is 4/5 stars.
