Book Title: It ends With Us

Author: Colleen Hoover

It Ends With Us Overview

as provided by author:

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants .Shes come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up- she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business.

So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant, he’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for lily, but ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan – her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When atlas suddenly reappears, everything lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

It Ends With Us Review

Its been a while since I read it Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. I get why some people hate it and I get why some people love it like its the best thing they’ve ever read. what I’m not understanding is why people act like its the worst possible thing one could ever read. like if they were stranded on an island with one book and it was this book they wouldn’t touch it. because honestly in my opinion it wasn’t that bad.

Things I Hated

I’m sure we all know this was coming , but the worst parts of this story were her letters to Ellen. As in Ellen DeGeneres. I get she was literally a kid but I just couldn’t.

Another thing I hated was the flashbacks. In the present we are reading from Lily’s pov and her current relationship with ryle. In the flashbacks it gives backstory on her trauma from when she was a child and also her relationship with her first love atlas. I hate when books switch from past to present because at times this can get boring.

*sighs* I’m just going to insert this quote here that needs no explanation.

“When he was wiping that cow shit on me, it was quite possibly the most turned- on I have ever been.”

Things I liked

I enjoyed the story telling of lily and ryle’s relationship as a example of domestic violence. In this book it really shows how it begins. Lily met Ryle and he just seemed so perfect. He hit her once and when she still stayed with him he hurt her more , whether it was intentional or not.(it was)

I know I said I hate flashbacks in books but I hate them in general not just this book. But I hate to say it I enjoyed atlas and Lily’s part of the story way better (sue me ).

When the relationship became abusive Lily’s mother helped her and gave her advice.

” I was trying to put everything back inside his head. I thought I could fix him, lily.”

It’s sad that lily, growing up had to watch her mom go through domestic violence and when she grew up she went through the same thing.

Conclusion and rating

Overall like I previously said It Ends With Us wasn’t that bad but it did have moments that made me go what the F***. The pacing of this story line was good. I didn’t like the flashbacks between past and present. Atlas and Lily’s story was much more interesting. The side characters in this book did not stand out to me. And lily says some questionable things.my rating of this book is 4/5 stars.
