A Book Review: Hotel Magnifique-The Best?

This is a book review on “Hotel Magnifique” by Emily J. Taylor. First off, I want to say it was good but it could have been better.

A Book Review: Hotel Magnifique-The Best?

Hotel Magnifique overview:

Hotel magnifique is a magical hotel that appears once every 10 years. The story follows the main character Jani as she and her sister are barely getting by. The hotel appears in their town, and they decide to become part of its staff. They are excited at first as Zosa lives her dream of singing. Jani becomes acquainted with the handsome doorman Bel, who is much more than he seems. The longer they stay at the hotel, the more secrets are revealed.

Writing:

The writing was okay, the beginning and middle were at a good pace. But when I got towards the end, it just felt rushed. So much was happening at one point. It was just thrown in there with little background or explanation. Maybe a second book would have set everything at a good pace.

characters:

Main character Jani was extremely unlikeable. She was annoying, stubborn, and kind of a pick me. Zosa (her younger sister) was more likeable than her. I had no issues with her. Bel, I can’t really say much about him. He’s supposed to be a main character but he was giving… nothing. The other background characters were okay though.

Overall:

Overall, the book wasn’t as great as I wanted it to be. Reading the overview, I was expecting more excitement and adventure. I did enjoy reading it at the beginning, but the two main characters threw me off. Their “romance” was non-existent. Their personalities were minimal. In the Goodreads overview, it says recommended for fans of Caraval and The Night Circus. I will have to disagree. While I haven’t read The Night Circus, Caraval was amazing.

Conclusion:
