Twisted Love By Ana Huang

I’ve read the novel ” Twisted Love” by Ana Huang, a few months ago and I must say that it was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Having spent some time reflecting on the book, I have now decided to write a detailed review. In this review, I will discuss both the positive and negative aspects that I encountered while reading Twisted Love. This will also be a spoiler-free review, so I won’t go into too much detail.

Twisted Love Overview

Ava Chen & Alex Volkov both have a very troubling past. This story kicks off when Alex is in charge of looking after his best friend’s little sister, Ava. Alex is a grumpy, ruthless billionaire seeking vengeance for as long as he can remember. Ava is all sunshine and rainbows but struggles with issues that happened in her childhood. What happens when these two collide? This is book 1 of the Twisted series by Ana Huang. Although it is a series, each book can be read as a standalone because it follows different characters in the Twisted universe.

Writing

In ‘twisted love’, the story switches between Ava and Alex’s perspectives. It’s a bit divided for me. On one hand, I like getting insight into both characters’ thoughts. However, on the other hand, it takes away the surprise or twist when one character reveals something the other didn’t know. It shocks the characters but not the readers. This works in other genres, but in romance, I just think it kind of ruins it.

The story runs at a good pace. It’s not too fast, not too slow. I was able to not get bored and actually enjoy it from beginning, middle, and end. The way Huang builds up suspense with details of the characters that link their past together and leads to the exciting twist in the end was amazing. This book does contain a lot of explicit sexual content and language, which would be my least favorite part about this book. But if you like books with spice, then I recommend.

Twisted Love Thoughts & conclusion

Twisted Love“ was a good adult romance book. It had a good plot, and the story was well written. I do wish the characters had fewer steamy scenes and more heartwarming scenes. Most of the time, it was very explicit, though not all the time.

Another thing I really liked about it was that there’s a playlist included at the beginning of the book! In a way, it kind of shows you the emotions the characters go through throughout the book. I would recommend it to someone looking for a spicy adult romance to read. If you like the “best friend’s brother” trope, then this is definitely for you. If you are someone looking for a sweet, innocent romance, this is not the book for you. Overall, I would definitely read this book again!

Rating:4/5

Genre:Romance

Trope: brothers best friend, grumpy/sunshine, morally grey male character
