So, what is Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score about? Naomi’s dried-up no-good twin needed help. For some reason, Naomi went to help her twin after she left a wedding she didn’t want. She goes to Knockemout, where she meets Knox, a 40-year-old. He doesn’t know how to manage his emotions and just won’t get over himself. oh, and yeah and her sister took her cash and car and also left her a present and hightailed it.

Things We Never Got Over: Why Are the Characters Like This
Knox is a 40-year-old man. I’m not sure why this is not specified; it makes a difference. Before his age was mentioned, I thought he was in his late 20s, maybe 30s. To find out he’s in his 40s, I was shocked. Here’s why. Knox does not act like a 40-year-old man. How are you middle-aged and don’t want to settle down? Like, grow up. You’re too old for that. and how the heck is Grandma Liza still alive?? he’s all ” I don’t want a needy high Maintenance woman. I just want basically a one-night stand.” he’s too old for all that. he needed to grow a pair- and fast.
Why is anytime a Knockemout guy is mentioned its always he’s extremely good looking or hot? Like we get it Knox and his brother got it going on but you’re telling me everyone is SOOO attractive there?
Things We Never Got Over Pacing and Setting
The good ole small town romance-my favorite. Things We Never Got Over has a good pace considering its 500+ pages long (omg). Normally, I do hate when a romance book is too long. More than 400 pages is only needed for fantasy books. I felt like the length of this book definitely allows for character development and depth. It’s easy to get attached to the supporting characters in this book. Characters like Waylay, Liza J, Nash, Stef, and Jeremiah are engaging. The Honky Tonk crew and, of course, the dogs, add to the story’s appeal.
from the first few pages i didn’t think i would like this book. Naomi was acting like a tempered child and know like an asshole. who would’ve thought he was 40? not me. as the story continued the mystery surrounding Tina and Knox’s family history had me in a choke hold. the book wasn’t incredibly spicy maybe 3 to 4 sex scenes and that’s with in a 500+ page book. they way everyone in Knockemout treated everyone like family set a warm and pleasant scenery
the ending was very satisfying and such a beautiful conclusion to their story. Knox finally acting like a man and Naomi expressing herself freely. Their characters evolved from the middle of the book until the end. It is enjoyable to read adult spicy romance books where the characters actually improve. plus, there’s so many other story lines with different characters and I’m excited to read the next 2 books. my rating for this book is 4/5 stars
